Beats Pro Headphones

Today I'm going to talk about my experience with the Dr. Dre Beats Pro headphones by Monster.

Before audiophiles flame me, I'm not a Dr. Dre Beats products fan. I just like their style and sound (I'm a bass people).

Why I bought an overly expensive headphones? I love listening to music and I like the style....And the name. Come on...every once in a while we want to have something worth bragging about. Anyways, as a music lover, as much as possible I like listening to them in clarity. Every beat makes me move to the song, makes me feel light specially on my down times but...that is a different story.:)

Why not a Hi-Fi? I can't bring them everywhere.

Now to the headphones:

Out of the box:

The Beats Pro headphones packaging is almost the same as the Beats Studio headphones. The main box is inside a box sleeve that slides smoothly. It comes with the Beats Pro headphones, the welcome booklet I think, I didn't care opening it, the monster cleaning cloth, the cable with the 1/4 inch adopter and the cheap carrying bag.

The stuff:

The headphone itself is made up of almost all aluminum - nice, can stand a beating. I like stuff in bare aluminum finish.

Like other dj headphones, the Beats Pro's ear cups can be twisted for a one-ear use.

From left to right: The 1/8 inch connector that goes to the either left or right cups of the headphones; The 1/8 inch right-angled connector for input and the 1/4 inch adopter.

The experience:

Looks. At first look of the headphones, it is BIG. I thought it wouldn't fit me, but when I slid back the cups to its smallest setting I was surprised it was too tight for me. Guess this will fit heads smaller than mine. I also liked the screws on the headphones.

Sound. The sound is very clear, the bass is great! I'm a bass guy remember? Bass is very good yet still very clear. I can still hear the other instruments with the booming bass and was surprised hearing sounds I am not hearing before with my Sony in-ear headset. It is not muffled. It made me like it more despite its weight when I listened to a trance music "This is my house" by Trance Control....Instruments are like exchanging from my left and right ears; "21 Guns" by Green Day, I've never heard this song this clear with the past headset and headphones that I had. I guess the Beats Pro is not entirely inclined to Hip-Hop / RnB songs. Nice!

One more thing, when used with my HTC HD2's Android DSP Manager application's bass booster, playing Easter Dean's - "Drop it low" it is like having two PC subwoofers right besides my head. It gave me nausea listening to it for too long. haha...

Statement:

I still like this headphone despite the comfort issues of it being heavy and too tight. The style and sound makes up for it, at least for me. It didn't disappoint me. Ciao!
